What Is an Air Source Heat Pump?

An air source heat pump (ASHP) extracts heat from outside air and uses it to warm your home and hot water. Unlike a gas boiler, which burns fuel, a heat pump moves existing heat energy from one place to another. For every unit of electricity consumed, a well-installed heat pump typically produces three or more units of heat, making it highly efficient and significantly lower in carbon emissions.

Air source heat pumps are suitable for most UK property types and work in temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius. When installed alongside good insulation, they deliver consistent, comfortable warmth and improve a property's EPC rating significantly.
